Thoughts on our adventures experiencing Birmingham's many culinary delights...
FIRE & BOTTEGA CAFE
For my 27th birthday, we dinned at
Fire Restaurant in Crestline Village. Executive Chef/Owner Steve Luther is an Alabama native who has worked with the restaurant for several years and recently became it's sole owner. I had heard the shrimp and grits were amazing, and they certainly did not disappoint. Robert had the fillet with hollandaise sauce. With a $50 Posh Birmingham gift certificate, for which I paid $19, we got a great deal on a delicious meal out.
We skipped dessert at Fire and instead headed downtown to
Bottega Cafe on Highland Avenue for dessert and coffee. I ended up getting the chai tea (less caffeine for baby) and we split the Chocolate Terrine with valrhona chocolate, pistachios, sultanas and Grand Marnier whipped cream. To die for. Especially the whipped cream. I love the atmosphere at Bottega Cafe. It was the perfect way to wind down on a rainy night - with Frank Stitt's delicious desserts.
