Haskew Christmas

One of my favorite things about Christmas Eve at Big Mama's is getting to play with all my little cousins and spend time with family. Here's Robert with my cousin Andrew. They kinda look alike in this picture!

And Caden was in the holiday spirit dressed in his Santa hat.

There are two main family traditions at the Haskew Christmas Eve Celebration. One is to eat cocktail shrimp. The other is to play dirty santa (and, yes, it's dirty - as you'll see from the pics below).

Allyson got a toilet seat complete with the newspaper.

Dad got a half-dressed garden gnome which Robert got an up close and personal look at courtesy of Victoria. Robert drew a lovely figurine of old ladies. As you can see, it was the highlight of his evening.

And, of course, David unwrapped a "dirty" diaper. I think the "dirty" was a chocolate bar, but I sure didn't confirm that.

My little cousin Hannah wore this super cute pick cameo hat. We had lots of fun being silly.

Santa made a surprise visit after dinner and brought some toys to all the kiddos. Everyone was so excited, including myself. The weather was bad that night and some of the kids were pretty worried Santa might have some trouble making all his stops, but even threats of tornadoes didn't keep him away.

Santa brought Victoria some barbies, but I think Kyle and Ryan played with them more than she did!

Ryan with my cousins Andrew and Christian.

Kyle gave Big Mama three very pretty canisters pre-filled with lots of yummy nuts. She was pretty excited about them.

Ryan enjoyed wheeling around his little cousins in Big Mama's scooter. We should have had in parallel park the thing to get ready for his driving test in February!

At some point during the evening I looked at the tree and noticed a shirtless Big Daddy was looking down on all our revelry! How appropriate! :)

Summerville/Sorrell Christmas

So, Santa brought us Guitar Hero for the Wii for Christmas. Well, technically, Santa would be Robert who happened to find two very old gift cards to Best Buy while cleaning the office and decided Guitar Hero would be a great use for them. It ended up being quite the entertainment for the Summerville/Sorrell Christmas Gathering with my dad's side of the family we hosted on the 23rd. We had a house full with my family from Canada also in town. It was so fun to host my extended family for the first time. We went pop luck and all were quite happy with full tummys and fun with family.

This will be the first of several Christmas posts since we made our way all over this holiday season.

My Aunt Cathy (a.k.a. Nonnie) and little cousin Harmony

At this point, Uncle Chris still wasn't sure how this Guitar Hero thing was working, but Harmony was getting her grove on. Our ottoman is apparently a perfect stage for performances by a toddler!

Chris looks really scholarly in this one.

My cousin, Lydia, jamming out.

My little brother Ryan doesn't smile in a lot of pics but made sure to flash his pearly whites in this shot with my other brother's girlfriend!

Captive audiences. We actually did have other entertainment (Catch Phrase!) besides Guitar Hero.

Dad never took a turn at it but I bet he would be a natural.

My cousin, Eric. You can see why he's a great youth pastor.

Harmony convinced us she was in need of some sweets!

This girl was shoveling in the brownie delight!

Home for a Southern Christmas, complete with 70 degree weather!

Now for the long line of family shots. I made everyone take them because who knows when we'll all be together again. This one's of the Summerville gang.

The Sorrells minus the Dicks...Jonathan, Christina, Solomon, and Elijah. We missed you guys!

The whole gang

My dad and his siblings. Chris and Cathy are actually twins though you would never guess that.

Dave and Shelbo in their matching Christmas colors.

Yes, the baby is the tallest. Irony.

And here's some of the priceless Guitar Hero video. Check out the tongue.
