Home Inspection and a Fish Fry

On Sunday we had the home inspected and were so excited to learn that there are no major problems with the house. It is in really good shape and you can tell it's been taken care of. There are, of course, some little things for us to work on, but that will be fun as we work to make it our house.

Here's Robert in the living room. I think it's funny that he matches the walls! (Which will soon be painted taupe.)

And me in the kitchen - my favorite room in the house.

On Friday, my dad went stripe fishing from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m.!! I can't image spending almost an entire work day fishing, but he did and had a blast. Here's a picture of the 22 lb stripe he caught that is now calling our freezer "home."

Since we had all this fish and also some left over from a couple of deep sea fishing trips, my parents decided to have a fish fry on Sunday night and invited us out for dinner. Robert was supposed to be helping fry the fish. :)

This is David's dog, Cooper Brown. He needs Ritalin. Seriously. This dog is wired. Don't let his gentle look fool you. He's wide open almost all the time. He was beginning to smell bad because he'd go jump in our pond and get all dirty, so dad bought him a little plastic swimming pool. Cooper loves paying in the thing. When we're playing fetch with him we can throw the ball or stick over the water and he'll jump right in. If we're off and miss the water he'll catch it and then jump in himself! It's hilarious.

We ate dinner down at Big Mama and Big Daddy's, who have a house just down the hill from my parent's house. Big Daddy had a wonderful appetite for the fish. He's always been a good eater!

Victoria enjoys sitting with Big Daddy and often points to his room and asks to go back there to see him. For a toddler, she does so good with him, especially since he isn't able to talk back to her.

Going to the Chapel...

My cousin, Nathan, and his beautiful bride Toni

My cousin, Nathan, had a beautiful wedding this Saturday. Nathan is an awesome musician (He played the trumpet at our wedding.) and just got a really nice job as a high school band director. He and his wife, Toni, were married in Hokes Bluff, Alabama, just outside of Gadsden. It actually wasn't very far from where Robert and I met his mom and dad for a funeral recently. We also passed Robert's great aunt's house. He recognized it when we drove by and said that he remembered she had a nice dog named "Colonel."

We rode up with Dad, Mom, Kyle, and Big Mama - all six of us in Big Mama's Lincoln Towncar. (What my dad likes to call a "Lazyboy on wheels.") Everything was great until we had a flat on the way home. Luckily, there were plenty of boys to change the tire. Kyle was driving, so we blamed it on him. Ironically, the last time he drove that car we had a flat tire and almost missed a cruise. So Robert was nominated to drive home the rest of the way.

Here are some great pics from the wedding:

IHOP

Shelly, Me, Anne, and Amy (with a cute, new haircut!)

My good friend, Amy, and her boyfriend, Matt, came into town this weekend from Charlotte, so on Saturday morning we all met up at IHOP for breakfast bright and early (10 a.m. is early for a Saturday, right?). Some other friends, Anne, Shelly, and Abi, joined us. Anne is going to China on Wednesday with a group from Oak Mountain Pres to work in an orphanage. I can't wait to hear about her trip. My other friend, Julia, is actually in Kenya now on a short term mission trip with the Navigators.

Take me out to the ball game...

On Friday night Robert's company hosted a picnic at the Hoover Met - free admission to the Baron's game (Bham's minor league baseball team), lots of free food, and even a fireworks show after the game. Since it was technically a "family picnic," we were originally going to take my family, but my two youngest brothers were at the beach with the church youth group so we rounded up a bunch of friends - Jake, Parker, Rob, Anne, Leigh, Margaret, and Emily - to join in on the fun.

The funniest part of the game was when a player on the other team hit one out but then tripped after rounding first on his way to second and literally fell on this face. Everyone in the stadium was laughing - even his own teammates. I wish I had gotten a picture. Here are some photos from the evening:

So we've finally hopped on the blogging bandwagon...

Here it is - Robert and Tiffany's blog. I know some of you have been waiting a long time for this (humm...Rebecca!) and now it's finally here. We've enjoyed reading everyone else's blogs so much, especially those of our family who live out of town, that we decided we'd start one too so everyone can know how things are going with the Adams in Birmingham.

I'm really going to do my best to update this often. I'll try and post pics of our trip to Charleston and the lake house next week, Robert's summer league ultimate frisbee games, and our new house (come June 29) in Homewood.

As for now, things have been going well. We're both enjoying our jobs, and I'm especially glad that Robert is no longer traveling back and forth from Pens
acola. Robert has been with BE&K as a mechanical engineer for about nine months now. I just started a new job in UAB's development/fund-raising office and have been there a little over a month.

I'm starting to think about boxing things up to get ready for the move to our new house (we finalized the contract this week!) but haven't been too successful yet. We'll have the home inspection this Sunday and then plan to close on June 29. It's a cute 3 bedroom, 2 bath in Homewood that is really going t
o cut down our commutes to work!

Robert's yet unnamed ultimate team won both their games tonight, and Robert scored a few points and made a really nice defensive play. The team is pretty stacked - and undefeated so far. 4-0. Tonight he played on the nice fields at Birmingham Southern and I jogged around campus some. It's really pretty.

SO, it's 10:16 p.m. and we're old and married (6 months on Saturday!) and off to bed! :)
